How To Make Holiday Qualities Year Round

As everybody knows the holidays can be either very stressful or enjoyable; there is no in between and it's pretty black and white. During the holidays the outside world is so peaceful, joyful and everybody is in a giving mood; but in all reality behind the doors, everybody is stressed, and unrest-ed with all the duties they feel that they are entitled to do. But in all honesty, this is not what the holidays are about. We are not meant to be stressed, overwhelmed, or feel as if we are entitled to do anything. The holidays are a time that we should feel as if all is OK, and we are fulfilled with love, kindness, and generosity.

After seeing how everybody is this holiday, it sparked a feeling in my heart. I could see how everything changed, and the pressure was on the closer we got to Christmas, and even immediately after Halloween; the stress was on right away. When in all honesty, aren't we suppose to be giving, and kind year round? Why has it become only for two months, we give what we can, be there for others and spread that genuine love. Why can't this be a year-round occurrence, rather than a one-time thing? After many thoughts, and daydreaming of what a change this could bring; I want to encourage everybody to make the way we act and treat others around the holidays to expand and regulate to the rest of the year.

Because if we had the same attitude, and good morals we do during the holidays, but all year; the society and social aspects of the world could be forever changed. So don't just be kind, giving and genuine during this time, do it constantly and then look around you because you will see the change and the difference you have made through the simplicity of kindness.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
