It's 2017! Whether your 2016 was the worst year of your life, the best year of your life, or somewhere in between, there's a whole new year to experience and it's waiting for YOU! There may be challenges, but with every challenge comes an opportunity for growth. Please check out the following suggested resolutions if you are ready to tackle another year in #GirlBoss fashion.

1. Make a resolution to make resolutions. As we all know, every day and every week is something different. It may not be ideal to make your resolution only about health or fitness because some weeks it just isn't going to happen, and that's okay. So maybe take it a little smaller in order to make it realistic with your busy schedule. Make a monthly health resolution and go from there!

2. Rather than solely focusing on physical health, consider you mental, emotional and spiritual health. Yes, we all want to look like Gigi and Kendall. Yes, spring break is coming up. Of course it is okay to want more for your body and your physical health. I just want to challenge you to want more than that. Want more than a beach bod and a bowl of kale. Want all of it like the capable and well rounded woman you are. Make goals to expand your mind. Read up on leadership skills and how best to utilize different aspects of your personality. Make friends with people who want to grow with you. Make it to Sunday service no matter what. Buy a daily devotional book. Pick a favorite prayer of the week and say it every morning on your commute. Make it work, ladies! Your brain and your heart will start to thank you just as much as your flabs turned abs.

3. Look for inspiration and role models in everyday life. Something I have really fallen in love with is listening to podcasts in my car. I love love love that there are thousands of options of what to listen to and they're all FREE! If you like the criminal mind and puzzles, check out Serial. You won't regret it. If you want to learn more about the average brain and human emotions, scroll through the dozens of TED talks and pick up some tips on happiness, compassion and many more. There are tons of shows dedicated to any topic you're interested in. One that I have begun listening to that I would encourage every woman of every age to check out is #GirlBoss. Every show a successful woman from various industries tells you a little bit about her life, how she got to where she is and her best advice for the audience. Something about listen to other women talk about how in love with their career and how proud they are of what they created really keeps you focused and ready.

Lastly, look for inspiration and role models in literature as well. My favorite girl power book of the year was definitely Milk and Honey by Rapi Kaur. It is a collection of poems about the female experience and female empowerment. There are, however, plenty of other good books you can check out, including Sophia Amoruso's, the host of #GirlBoss podcast, book #GirlBoss, and autobiographies by inspirational women like Mindy Kaling.

Happy happy new year and #GeauxGirls!!!

Being Invisible The Best Super Power

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
