This article definitely contains Game of Thrones spoilers.

It is too soon to be talking about holding doors. This past Saturday the Game of Thrones episode “The Door” was made available temporarily on the HBO Nordic platform due to a technical glitch. Pirates managed to quickly grab it and have it uploaded before the show was released at its usual time on Sunday.

Back in 2013, Game of Thrones was the most pirated show that year, but the director says it actually “adds to the cultural buzz.”

This was one of the best Game of Thrones episodes in my opinion. According to IMDB “The Door” is rated at an impressive 9.8/10.

Now this is not true for everyone, especially fans of the books, but I believe Game of Thrones is a cultural phenomenon. From its Zen like “You know nothing Jon Snow” and even Jon’s eventual resurrection.

Game of Thrones is a story filled with death, here is an article showing all of them up to this point.

Game of Thrones deals with death differently, death is much more realistic. There’s much less heroism in death, there’s more backstabbing, executing and poisoning. There’s even getting your face smashed in by a man who is much larger than you are.

Some death scenes you just can’t wait for them to happen, such as Joffery’s death (the kid got his pleasure from pinning women with crossbow bolts). Other death scenes we are just waiting for, like Ramsay Bolton. Ned Stark, who seemed to be morally righteous was one of the first to die.

As I said, there’s much less heroism. This last episode, “The Door” changes that significantly. At the end of the episode Bran is visiting another realm so to speak, the Night King sees Bran and marks him.

Eventually the White Walker army shows up, and where the Night King could not go before, he is now able to because the mark he placed on Bran.

Bran’s dire wolf, Summer, stays behind to hold off some of the White Walkers. This is a heroic death that you feel on the inside. During this, Bran is warging (like mind-controlling) into the mentally disabled half-giant Hodor. Hodor is a man who has helped cared for the Starks, yet he is only capable of saying "Hodor".

Very soon it becomes apparent of what truly happens. Bran is crippled, so Hodor carries him in a wheel burrow like device. There is a door at the end of the hallway, and it looks like they will make it out. However, the door is shut, stuck on ice from the outside. Hodor keeps hitting the door to get out. They escape and Hodor slams the door, but the walkers are still coming.

This is it. It is revealed that in Bran’s warging Wylis has a seizure sort of thing, and starts yelling “Hold the Door.” Eventually, this gets put together and sounds like “Ho-dor.”

Then Bran is wheeled away by the only companion Bran has left. People always think of heroes accomplishing all these great deeds and doing something epic. Sometimes, all it takes to be the hero, is to simply hold the door. There is no Game of Thrones character that deserves more honor than Wylis (Hodor).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
