"I'm going to go to the gym more this year."
"I'm going to give up soda."
"I'm going to be healthier."
We all make these resolutions each year, yet are usually only able to stick to them a few weeks maybe months. Why is that? Why is it we make a promise to ourselves that we never end up keeping?
I know there are some people who hold this out super well and finish their promise to change their lifestyle, but I know there are a lot of people who don't. Look at the gyms starting in March. They're empty.
I started not to make resolutions a few years ago but instead focusing each year on a certain attribute to work on. I feel like these attributes were much better to help hold true to my promises and get the ball rolling on a healthier lifestyle.
If you really struggle to hold a resolution, you should definitely try the one-word challenge each year. Patience, obedience, perseverance, and so many other words could be ones, to begin with.
I know for me this year I will be working through love and how to love others better. It creates a positive outlook on life and a great way to remind yourself of a way to better yourself every day of the year.
Drop the resolutions and begin working through character traits.
