I thought she would forgive me.
I thought we were okay.
I thought there would be nothing
That I would have to say.
But it was not that easy
to get back her affection.
I found out that she would not
give me her attention.
No, I’m not deserving
For she will only
Hiss at me,
Softly.
I try to pick her up
I try to pet her gently,
But when I catch her eye, she’ll
Hiss at me,
Softly.
I was under the impression
that only words can hurt me,
But nothing is more painful
then when she’ll
Hiss at me,
Softly.
I know that I’ve done nothing
to deserve emotional abuse,
But it seems like moving North for college
Is a just excuse.
I try to make her happy
and feed her a favorite snack,
But what do I get in return?
What do I get back?
She’ll only react by
Hissing at me,
Softly.
She fills up my whole life without purrs.
She’ll hiss at me,
Softly.
