In the past few months, I have watched several of my friends make plans to join the military. Some are enlisted in ROTC programs at different colleges, others have either begun or completed their basic training for the Army or Marines. While I had the utmost respect for their choice to serve and couldn’t be more proud to call them friends, I still found myself worried for their future. I was worried about any danger they may see on the battlefield, as some want combat roles. I was worried for how they may be treated when they return home, given the country’s poor treatment of veterans. However most of all, I feared for who may be the one to give their orders.

While several issues on the Homefront are discussed in a presidential election, foreign policy is one of if not the most important when it comes to being President. It is imperative to have a leader with experience, knowledge of world affairs, and a steady hand when deciding when and how to send our brave men and women into battle. Many have argued that given Hillary Clinton’s role as Secretary of State as opposed to Donald Trump’s lack of experience in public office makes her the clear choice for Commander in Chief. But does it?

One of the constant arguments that have been made by Clinton supporters and those who are Anti-Trump is: Neither candidate is perfect, but only Donald Trump is dangerous. Hillary Clinton herself has called Donald Trump dangerous on numerous occasions. But in reality, when you consider the facts, Hillary Clinton is more dangerous to the future of America, and the lives of American soldiers than Donald Trump. This is not some right wing rant on how to “take America back”, this is simple facts and the proof is in Clinton’s actions as Secretary of State.

The Clinton email scandal has been one of the biggest controversies over the past year and a half. And while she did not face criminal charges or a disqualification from running for President, the facts of the investigation proved she is not fit to be President. FBI director James Comey himself said that it is possible hostile attackers gained access to Hillary’s private server and therefore the top secret information at the time. He also said that Clinton and the State Department was extremely careless in their handling of the private email server. Hillary Clinton put the security of our soldiers and our nation at risk and she must suffer the consequences for her actions.

Despite the scandals and the actions that would get a normal person thrown in jail, Hillary Clinton has a very good chance of being the next President of the United States. A woman with a proven record of carelessness and incompetence in a position of power could be the one who decides whether my friends and countless other brave men and women across this country go to war. She is asking us to look past her dangerous actions, and trust her with our safety and the safety of our soldiers simply because a man who makes mean tweets is too dangerous to be President. Many have bought this lie, and to those who believe Donald Trump is more dangerous I say this: Why is what Donald Trump has said, more dangerous to the lives of Americans than what Hillary Clinton has done?
