Ubisoft presented many promising games this year at the E3 conference. Some of these games were stand-alones and some were add-ons to longer series. Sony also delivered an exciting performance as they previewed some of their games including my personal favorite, "Days Gone". Here are some of the highlights from both conferences!
1. Ubisoft: "Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle"
Who doesn't love a good Mario game? Well Ubisoft took it upon themselves to bring their own spin to the Mario universe by adding a much loved character, Rabbids. In the game, Mario, Luigi, and other favorites have teamed up with Rabbids to help save Mushroom Kingdom. Players will explore, battle, and puzzle-solve their way through four different worlds to protect the beloved Mario universe.
2. Ubisoft: "Skull and Bones"
Described at the conference as "the ultimate pirate experience", "Skull and Bones" will offer players the chance to have some real naval combat as you battle your way across the Indian Ocean, taking down rival ships to collect loot and move up the pirate ranks. With past pirate experience from Assassins Creed: Black Flag, Ubisoft will surely not disappoint with this brand new adventure.
3. Ubisoft: "Far Cry 5"
Hope County, Montana used to be a peaceful place but is now overrun by a cult that is in control of everything and everyone. Players will fight their way through Hope Country to save the town and its people. Far Cry has a long history and has always impressed fans with gameplay, scenery, and characters. "Far Cry 5 "will take players off of the far away island and out of the mountains and place them into a small town in the United States. While this is new territory for the Far Cry universe, it will still include elements of the game such hunting wild animals, guns for hire, and the freedom of an open world territory.
4. Sony: "Days Gone"
Who doesn't love playing in a world that is ending? "Days Gone" is an open world action-adventure game that will take players to the aftermath of a global pandemic. Deacon St. John, who has seemingly lost everything, fights his way through a devastating world to help save people he cares about, take down dangerous enemies, and find a reason to keep on surviving.
5. Sony: "The Inpatient"
Virtual reality, old music, insane asylum, creepy old guy, amnesia? No thank you. This new psychological horror game takes you to a world where you play as a character with amnesia in a place called Blackwood Sanitorium. "The Inpatient" will serve as a prequel to the popular horror game Until Dawn but will have characters, places, and events that will be completely new to all players.
6. Sony: "Detroit: Become Human"
Ever wonder what a world would be like with some "people" who weren't actually people? Have you ever wondered how these "people" would react to being controlled by humans? "Detroit: Become Human" offers a small insight into what a world could be like if this happened. Players will find themselves in an "android revolution", or in fact, leading it. Different choices will have different outcomes and it is up to the player to make the best possible decision. Will you choose violence, or will you choose Mercy?
If you didn't get a chance to view E3 live or attend in person this year don't worry! The video game companies you love will be back in June 2018 to share an entire new spectrum of video games.
