State-Run television.
Whether or not it’s Fox and Friends or this, you know it’s dangerous, perhaps even deadly:
Holy shit, Twitter and medium should not be used for world leaders throwing insults around; the only people that should be throwing insults around on Twitter are Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert in a direct-to-Netflix version of Mean Employees!
In Trump’s recent five-nation trip to Asia, our current commander-in-chief accomplished such things as fixing the global trading system, wooing China, and this:
“He’s leading us to a better future.”
If that statement was taken, and put in a vacuum, you would not know what leader she would be talking about. Kept in context, she is talking obviously about Kim Jong-un, the ‘short and fat’ leader from North Korea. While she is correct that Trump is a war-obsessed maniac who may lead each and every one of us into a early grave, but the U.S. certainly has a much better human rights record. First, obviously, while we have pseudo state-run television (read: Fox News), but we are allowed to have ‘opposing’ viewpoints (read: “Fake News” NBC, CBS, ABC News, and the “failing” New York Times and Washington Post) that can hold this president and his cronies accountable for what they say and do, whereas over in North Korea, if you so much as question their “awesome leader,” I assume you get put in front of a firing squad or are forcibly subjected to insane ramblings of Kim Jong-un’s BFF, Dennis Rodman.
But the most interesting thing to come out of this trip to Asia occurred during the economic summit in Vietnam. The narrative that has carried over since the 2016 campaign was the main topic, and Trump asked Putin if Russia interfered in the election last year. Predictably, Trump believed the response Putin gave, which was he did not interfere with our election. It’s like, if Putin were Pinocchio, and his nose grew bigger with every lie, Trump would dismiss it by Tweeting: “WOW. The dying Disney Corporation is Fake News. The great Pinocchio warned me about them. Low ratings. Sad!”
The twist came when Trump said he doesn’t believe “political hacks” like former FBI director James Comey, whom you may remember that was fired back in May. Statements like that are concerning, especially former CIA Director James Brennan, who thinks these are something “Mr. Trump should be ashamed of.” Come on, Brennan. You know Trump has the same amount of shame as the target demographic his base has. I’m talking about these people:
