Every night
I lay still as stone
My gaze fixated
At who knows where
Looking at who knows what
Thinking about everything
But nothing
The distant past
The distant future
And the so-called distant present
— I do not feel present
I self regress into self-doubt
My self-doubt melts into self-loathe
Until it all becomes too much
For the body and mind
So every night
I lay still as stone
My gaze fixated
At who knows where
Looking at who knows what
Thinking about everything
But nothing
As I pray to some higher power
For it all to be better
