In high school, everyone has at least one teacher that stands out to them the most. That teacher might be liked the most because of their personality, their rules in the classroom, what they teach and how they teach, etc.
The teacher that stands out the most could also be in a negative light for the same reasons. However, for every one teacher that is your favorite, there's about 3 more that aren't so great. No matter if you like the teacher or not, you can always learn something from them.
Your percentage is not your worth.
My biology teacher, Mr. Slye, said this all the time. Kids, including myself, would tear themselves down if they got a bad test grade or anything like that. He's right though.
Just because you do badly on one test doesn't mean you didn't try. As long as you try your best that's all that matters.
If you voice your opinion, be prepared for someone to disagree with you and voice their opinion too.
My junior year, in one of my classes the hot topic being talked about was politics. My teacher decided to share their beliefs and a student listening to them respectfully disagreed with what the teacher was saying.
The teacher embarrassed the student in front of everyone. Overall a huge ordeal and uncalled for.
If someone has a passion, don’t tear them down about it.
Growing up I always wanted to help people. I have always wanted to be a doctor or a therapist, just about anything that would help people medically.
I talked about being a Pediatric Cardiologist in one of my classes and long story short the teacher asked, "Why would you ever want to have a job like that?" and tried to make me feel bad for wanting to do that as my career at the time.
It’s okay to have questions and not understand something.
Growing up everyone was afraid to ask the teacher something. "You ask." "No, you." When you do ask a question, some teachers will go out of their way to make sure you understand or even try to teach in a different way just to make sure everyone gets it.
However, there are some teachers that have no patience, but for the most part, they all want to help in some way shape or form.
Find a job you’re happy with. It’s obvious when you’re not happy.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. I have had countless teachers where you can just tell they don't want to be there. They act like they'd rather be ANYWHERE else except the classroom.
