8 Things All High School Seniors Must Do Right When They Commit To Their Dream School

May 1st is approaching my friends, and to any high school senior, this day is deposit day for whatever college you will be attending! A whirlwind of emotions sets: excitement, anxiety, confusion, happiness, sadness, you get the gist.

So, here are eight things you do once you mail your envelope in with your money or hit the send button on your laptop!

1. Let out a breath of relief that you never knew you were holding in

When I first committed to URI, I know that as soon as I hit the button I immediately felt a sense of relief, and indeed let out a breath I felt I had been holding forever. I guess its the idea that you know exactly where you will be in a few months that really allows you to not stress AS much about college as you might be. Either way, this relief feels amazing and you should take it all in, girlfriend.

2. Add it to your Snapchat story, Instagram bio, school decisions Facebook... basically any social media page you have

After feeling relieved you of course have to let everyone you could possibly know know that you are attending whatever school you choose. So add to your Snapchat story, update your social media bios, be proud of the school you are going to be at for the next four years and don't be afraid to show it!

3. Join the school's Facebook group (if you haven't done so already)

Now's the time to meet new people, make friends, and of course, find roommates! Try to find people similar, and even not similar, to start talking to and make the initiative to create new friendships. People will remember you, and at the end of the day, start reaching out to you as well.

4. Hit the campus store (most have online stores too)

So now that you put your deposit down, you obviously need to show off your future school's pride! Get some clothes for game days or for when the seniors of your high school wear their college shirts (at least, we do this at my school)!

5. Do all the necessary work for the school you will be attending

Fill out a roommate survey, choose your meal plan, the list goes on. These are things you will need to take care of so mine as well complete the tasks now and have the summer to just relax and have fun with your people at home!

6. Plan a visit

Get ready to be a (insert mascot here)! Immerse yourself in the school's culture/atmosphere and visit it as a student who is attending in the fall. The vibe will be much different once you know you are going there.

7. Start planning dorm decorations

The excitement is going to kick in, so time to start prepping! You can have all the fun in the world now planning what your new space looks like so get started!

8. Finally, celebrate!

You deserve to be proud of all your hard work! So have a night out with your friends, celebrate with family, etc. Just take a day to make your accomplishments known and don't be shy.

This is such an exciting time in your life and you have a whole future ahead of you! So, don't hold back.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
