You just started your second semester of high school, college acceptances are coming in, and you have a big decision to make, or you already know where you are spending the next four years of your life. Some of you can't wait to get out of the high school and go out on your own, do your own thing, be your own person, your life is really just getting started.

I'm not going to tell you, "don't rush it, you'll miss it when it's over," because I do not at all. All I miss are the friends I grew up with, and odds are you will too, but you have to accept the fact that you will grow apart from some of them. But you will make so many new friends who will change your life. I'm not saying forget about your high school friends as soon as you go off to college, but understand you will not end your first semester of college with the same high school friends you started it with. People change for better and worst, but God puts everyone in our lives for a reason, and He will determine who stays and who goes.

Other than that I don't miss anything about high school because everything in college is SO MUCH BETTER. I cannot stress that enough. College has changed my life and it has changed who I am, all for the better. Yes, it's going to be hard and you are going to have to work ten times harder, BUT you don't even know all the great things you will get to experience.

So don't let anyone tell you to slow down, or that "you'll miss it when it's over," because you won't. College puts you through a whirlwind, but it is something you need to go through. Be confident with all your heart of where you will be spending the next four years of your life, and go for it. Don't slow down, don't think you have to slow down because other people aren't ready for you to leave because the only person you have to make happy is you. The decisions you make should always be what is best for you and what is going to make you happiest.

Everything you are doing in high school, odds are you will be able to continue it in college if you want it bad enough. You can still play sports, on a smaller more relaxed scale, but you can still do it. Any clubs you are in right now, most colleges probably have something very similar. And you get to try completely new things! College has so much more to offer, and you'll miss it if you spend too much time remembering what high school was like.

Don't feel bad for wanting to get the rest of your life started. It's out there waiting for you, go get it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
