No one wants to work at McDonald's or Subway and fast food jobs are a thing of the past (aka high school). Young adults are ready to get a real job, even if it's only for the summer. So here's a list of jobs that are higher paying than your typical fast food restaurant.
1. Amazon
Amazon is almost always hiring... and the last time I checked, you start out at around $13.00 an hour.
2. Walmart Distribution Center
Not the actual Walmart store... but the warehouse! That's where all the goods that are in Walmart are transferred from. They pay well above minimum wage, and there's probably one near you!
3. UPS
It's also a warehouse kind of job unless you can get promoted to delivery.
4. Pepsi
If there's a factory near you, then you can start out at around $23.00 an hour... with no experience.
5. Uber/Lyft
If you fancy driving, Lyft and Uber are great places to work! Plus you work on your own time and make your own schedule.
6. Any other warehouse in your area
Most warehouses and factories pay over minimum wage, so all you have to do is search it online! Multiple places will pop up, and from there you can choose.
7. College students, try an internship
If there are companies in your area that correspond with whatever your major is, all you have to do is go to the facility and ask! It can never hurt to try. So not only would you be making money, but you will also be getting experience for your future career.
8. If none of this sounds appealing...
Websites like Indeed are job searching sites that I have found extremely helpful. Use your zip code to find jobs near you.
Job searching can be tedious and discouraging. But the most important thing is that you don't give up and you keep searching until you find the right job for you. If you have the opportunity to talk to someone higher up in the company, take the chance and ask if they have a job that is more fitting for you. You never know what will happen, and you may end up with the job of a lifetime.
