I am going to play the liberal game for a second and tell you what I am offended about. Beyoncé, one of the most beloved performers and entertainers, used her validity and fame to endorse the most racist and ethically ignorant campaigns that either began in the past and/or still exist today. During her Super Bowl halftime performance show (and song) she made references to the Black Panther Party and the Black Lives Matter movement. To say that the Super Bowl halftime show was a disgusting, horrific representation of American society is an understatement.
The reality is people should probably get over themselves. This is America. We all have differences in opinion. When did that become news to people?
The Black Lives Matter campaign is a vicious cycle of “poor me.” This group is their own worst enemy. These are individuals and groups who associate themselves as the victims- the victims of police brutality. They claim that the racist era of the country is not yet over, never has, and will continue for centuries. Little do they realize, however, this division and creating a race issue further solidifies minorities in their own groups racially and socioeconomically. They claim to want equality and advocate for such treatment, however, they’re isolating and emphasizing a race versus race issue confirms them to be contributing to their own “problem.”
The harsh reality is that in a society that has protectors such as police officers and other law enforcement, if there is a distinction in race people automatically jump to the conclusion that the act in and of itself was racist. They may not consider the fact that if one is threatening the police officer or even armed in a conflict, that the police officer has every right to protect himself/herself in such a situation. Ever think that maybe violent people of all races put themselves in this situation because their lack of common sense?
It is vital to remember that although the only broadcasted “police brutality cases” have to do with white police officers harming African Americans and other minorities, society fails to realize that African Americans are not the only group coming in contact with the police forces. Believe it or not there have been African American police officers that have killed violent Caucasians as well. So, why do we ONLY highlight those that involve African American victims and Caucasian “suspects?”
I’ll tell you what it is time to do- it is time to start having respect for all members of law enforcement. Call me archaic, traditional, absurd, a bigot, but I don’t care. However, before doing so, it is important to know that I am a minority being a Native American. Respect is something that should and ought to be a universal concept that is practiced by all. Respect is something that has been slowly diminishing with the heightened concern for “political correctness” and needs to return immediately. There should be respect for all law enforcement members in addition to all citizens of the United States REGARDLESS of skin color.
I have an uncle in law enforcement, and as a result this particular issue resonates with me on a sentimental level. He goes to work everyday risking his own life and signing up to save and protect those around him. He voluntarily gives back to the community by endorsing safety and protection of those who do not appreciate him. What a slap in the face. Imagine: you do wonders for the community because you have nothing but deep admiration for those around you (including those whom you may not know), and those same people undermine what you give up and risk everyday to do so.
Wake up America! Let’s stop playing the race game. Let’s stop further solidifying and recognizing the differences between every ethnicity. Let’s start thanking police officers and other law enforcement for the plethora of good they endorse within the community. Let’s start uniting as a collective unit to make any changes that WE, as the United States, the greatest country in the world, desire to witness. Blue Lives Matter.
God bless the red, the white, and the blue.
