My Sorority Sisters Are My Heroes Because Of Their Selfless And Sisterly Acts

Little things that my sorority sisters do to change my day from good to great.

There are things that should go unrecognized. Now, I know what you are thinking: people don’t need to be recognized for every little action that they take. Yes, but I do believe that something little can make a huge difference in someone’s day.

A little bit of a backstory. I was initiated into Tri Delta almost exactly one year ago. If you would have asked me one and a half years ago if I was seriously considering joining a sorority, you would have heard a “hell no” come out of my mouth. The thought of being in a house with 150+ girls SCARED the heck out of me. I had a small group of friends at the time that I was comfortable with, why would I want to add more?

But I did. I wanted to enrich my life with new people who I would have in my life, for the rest of my life. I wanted to have a Big, and then my sophomore year, I would be getting my own little. I wanted to participate in philanthropy’s and raise money and volunteer for others.

My friend Vic told me that she thinks I would be a great fit with the girls she knows in the house. So she then told me I should try out informal recruitment. I did informally, fell in love with the house and the girls I had met, and got a bid that week. Ever since I joined the house, I have been happier than ever. I met some lifelong friends that I know I will have in my wedding, I am one of our vice presidents, which is giving me career and leadership experience, and I have something to keep me accountable. Thinking of what my life without tri delta would be, makes me sad.

Alright. Back on topic. Thinking about the girls in my house and how much they do for me, I thought about the things that they do for me that shouldn’t go unrecognized. It made me think about all the little things I am so happy about that come from the amazing girls in my sorority.

I am a huge twitter fan – so I decided to make a twitter “thread” of all the things that my sorority sisters did for me. These are not big things, they were not heroic, but they were nice little things that made me reflect and appreciate how I have some amazing people in my life.

Now, as you can see, little things like buying a bottle of soy sauce is not something that most people would consider heroic. To me though, as a huge soy sauce fan, and someone who was having not the best day, this was pretty heroic, and was a game-changer.

I encourage you to look at the small little things people do for you. If you are in a sorority, maybe these are your sorority sisters who are helping you out. If you aren’t, maybe they are some people you are close to. Either way, it's all the little things that add up to make life just that much better.

Thanks to all the people who look out for me in and out of my sorority – I am so freaking thankful I have you in my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
