I think it was interesting to hear that we are the heroes of our own life story. Every day we go on our own journey to see where it will take us, so when it comes to creating our pieces of work it is hard to not think of a part of your own journey while creating a character. The character that I create in a story is going to have flaws at the end of the day, so some of the flaws may or may not intertwine with flaws that already exist in my life or someone else that I have come across. The first step of the hero's journey is the call to adventure.
The call to adventure is something that we don't realize happens in our daily lives in society because we define adventure in different ways. My call to adventure this summer was to work as a host at Olive Garden. I realized that there might be more to the job when I started working one of my first shifts, I learned that there are other things that have to piece together in order for me to survive a shift, including rolling silverware. The guests, the atmosphere, the moments, and my co-workers all come to mind too, and they have become a part of my hero's journey. I think that is what call to adventure means, you have to look a little deeper than what actually is sometimes and that can be tricky. It may seem like the stars don't align every time for the call to adventure, but it is there to help guide and teach so that the journey can continue on the same path.
This is something that I have learned in life and in my summer class that I have taken most recently. What is something that defines your journey?
