We Let America Break, And Now We Have To Find A Way To Fix It

Here is the thing America,

All of our lives have changed, quite a lot to be honest, and here are. Scared, broken, and hurting, but that doesn’t mean we are falling apart. We just need to stop complaining, stop rooting for us to fail, and come together. We need to understand a few things and we can move on.

Our past presidency changes.

In the past two decades, a lot has changed in America. We went from a Texas native president who faced the great challenge of 9/11 and the stock market crashing to the first African American President in history. Some would argue that he was a pretty great President, because he came off as an actual human. You could catch him joking around or looking at people like they are actual idiots. Like all good things, it came to an end. And now here we are, post Trump election, in the middle of what some could argue as the most controversial time in American History. The reason why they are all so dramatically different is because our needs have changed, we can't expect every presidency to be the same.

Give Trump a chance.

Now, I am not a huge Trump fan. I didn’t support him in the election, but in some ways, I actually support him now. I am not going to lie: America is suffering in social issues. Here is the thing, there is way more to being president than social issues. In the two months he has been president, he hasn't started a nuclear war, so he’s doing pretty well. He hasn’t had a chance to show us what he can do, or what he can’t. Give him a chance. And while we are on the subject of his presidency, you do understand that the President doesn’t actually have that much power, right? Most of the Power lies with Congress and the Senate, it’s called checks and balances. So next time you want to blame Trump for your healthcare, think about what box you checked on the ballot for your congressman. This is also a benefit, because when Trump does something crazy, like want to build a wall, it has to go through Congress. This is a Congress who up until three weeks before the election, stopped supporting Trump and only turned in fear of not getting reelected. He hasn’t started his four years yet, so why are you already writing him off a failure? By doing that, we are writing America off as a failure.

If you voted for him stop complaining.

If you voted for President Trump, you pretty much get as much say as the people who didn’t vote. You voted for a NON-politician, who is actually following through on what he said he would, but that’s what you wanted right? Congrats, you got your wish. You took a shovel and dug this hole, so stop complaining. Stop saying you never thought it would happen, because I’m sure every Democrat, Bernie lover, Hillary supporter, or anti-Trump voter could have told you that. All that complaining does for you is make you look like a hypocrite so save your breath.

Stop hating each other!

I don’t think this one really deserves an explanation. But it seems as though a lot of people aren't acting like adults. By hating each other, you are only fueling the problems, so stop. Let’s all be adults and just play nice.

Always thinking the media is right.

The media controlled this election. Let me ask you this: How many of you actually read the candidates websites on what they wanted to do? It’s really easy to let the media control opinions and even facts. It is no fault of your own, it’s how our country works. But don’t let them be your only influence, do some research and take in several different opinions. Modern day media has taken control and it’s not always correct information, it is fed by their prospective and there are always two sides to a story.

We are fueling our social issues and America’s brokenness.

America fell apart way before Trump became President. To be fair, it probably broke when he decided to run for president. All of the sudden, all of these social issues came into fire. Gay rights, rights of African Americans, refugees, women’s rights, the list goes on. We only came to care about them when there was a threat against them. And now, look where we are. We fueled them because we started a fire, probably too late, and here we are trying to not get burned. We are the ones behind the fire and if we really tried, we could control it. We let America break, and now we have to find a way to fix it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
