Heading into the New Year, you're either the person who is saying "New Year, New Me" and is ready to crush those New Year's resolutions or you're the person who is absolutely dreading another year floating away.
Embracing the New Year is hard for some and that is completely understandable.
Sometimes we set goals for ourselves that on January 1st seem so incredibly attainable and then once December 31st hits we see that after 365 days we have not managed to achieve that goal. And it is not because we did not want to work towards that goal, it is just that life simply got in the way.
So how do we look towards the New Year without bringing ourselves down? Do we neglect the goal setting part of the New Year and hope for the best in the next 365 days or do we hold onto goal setting and try to do our best this time around?
Why do we even bother waiting until the New Year to set new goals? What is it about January 1st that makes people motivated? If we really wanted to crush goals why don't we start going after them right after we think of them? Why don't we set a plan in motion the same day we find that desire to get it done? What makes us... lazy, unmotivated and distracted?
What would happen if we started committing to making our goals the minute we think of them instead of waiting? How much more do you think could get done in our lives? If we wake up 10 minutes earlier that's over an hour each week that we can dedicate to crushing our goals. If we dwindle down our social media usage we will surely have more time and hey- skipping happy hour once a week will open up a good chunk of time too.
So if you're out there reading this, wherever you are, commit to crushing one small goal this week. The first thing that comes to mind. Get up and go out there and do what you need to do because sitting around and waiting for it to fall into your lap will not make it happen.
Life doesn't happen unless you make it happen.
