This world has seen so many love stories but nothing compared to this one. Henry was a king when he first met Anne Boleyn. He was married to Katherine of Aragon and had a daughter named Mary, despite always wanting a son. He was desperate to have a son because he came to the throne after his elder brother, Arthur, died. He knew the consequence if he didn't have a male child. But what he did not know was that his second wife Anne Boleyn's daughter would be the world's best monarch of all the time. Elizabeth's reign was considered a golden age of England.
Anne Boleyn was considered a witty woman, confident and ahead of her time. Anne met Henry during her mid-twenties and Henry was in his mid-thirties. They instantly fell in love and they were trying to pursue a future together. At first, Anne does not want to be his mistress after knowing what happened to her sister, Mary, who once was his mistress, too. Henry tried very hard to divorce his wife to marry Anne. He went to every existent to be with Anne.
He changed his religion and broke the England church from Rome. He made a false accusation on Katherine that she was his brother's wife before he married her, invalidating the marriage. He put the whole country into jeopardy so he could stay with Anne for just a few minutes.
During this time he wrote love letters to Anne and he once mentioned that he is her servants and he would leave England and his position to just be in her arms for a few minutes. Both of them would send gifts to each other. They would visit each other any time that they get. Henry was known to have many mistresses including Mary at that time, but he waited seven years to be with Anne. Now, this shows that how much that he loved and was obsessed with Anne Boleyn. She became a big distraction for him that he just do anything that she wants him to do. Both of them shared poems and gifts.
Even Anne at first did not care for the Henry but afterward seeing how he cares for her, even she fell in love with him deeply. They were married for three years and had Elizabeth their first daughter right away. Two years into their marriage, they were still happy with each other. They still party and dance no matter what problems that they would have with each other. They were a happily married couple.
Henry still wanted a male child and Anne still did not make up her promise that she made before marrying Henry. She conceived again but it was stillborn.
Henry still wanted a male child, so he ordered his advisers to get rid of his wife. So they came up with this big plan where she was accused of treason, adultery and witchcraft. She was beheaded after three years of marriage.
Now, this is a tragic love story. It is true that they loved each other and they did live a happy married life for a while but Henry destroyed everything. Unlike many of Shakespeare's love stories, this really happened.
