Ever been sad, upset or feeling down? If you answered no to that question then I'd like to meet you and understand how you've done that. But if you're like normal people, I'm sure you've been upset at least once in your life. Each person has varying remedies to deal with their sadness and to restore their happiness. Some people surround themselves with the things and people they love most. Others fill their bodies with food until they feel as if they might explode. These are all great ways to cope with sadness but recently I've found myself running to another coping method that may not be as apparent as others may be.
A great way to cure sadness is to do something that makes someone else happy or helps someone, even if you have no connection with the person. I know this may sound silly but trust me it really works. When you see the smile on that persons face, or hear the results of what your service did for that person, that will give you an immense amount of joy that you may have not even realized was possible at that possible. Sometimes the cure isn't doing something for yourself to make you happy, but filling someone else with happiness and joy. This will then, in turn, give you the happiness that you needed to cure yourself without you even realizing how much help this did for you.
The joy you receive from doing something good for someone else can, in turn, lift your spirits for the better. I recently experimented with this myself and I would've never thought I would've felt the way I did after I finished. I am so thankful for that opportunity and if I get the chance to do something else, I will gladly take it, and so should you. It really truly does feel good to make someone else feel good.
