I have always been a fan of eating lots of vegetables and throwing a few slices of meat on my plate. However, I never knew how much this could benefit me.
Although a lot of this sounds easy, there are going to be setbacks if you are wanting to improve your eating habits. Whenever you go out to eat with friends or family, there will be someone who orders something from the fried food menu. It will be hard at first, but soon enough you will look at them eating it and be thankful that's not something you crave anymore.
Ever since I have started to eat healthy, I have noticed how much more confident I am in everyday life. I have more energy throughout the day, and I even have a better mood. I truly believe it is because I am cutting foods out of my diet that are prone to give you energy only for a few hours.
Self-confidence has always been an issue with me. Even if I have weighed a good amount throughout the years, I still was never satisfied because I knew what foods I was eating. Now, I can finally look at myself in the mirror and know that I am actually living more of a healthy lifestyle.
Of course we all have "cheat days" or even "cheat weeks." Although this isn't what is recommended, I think that it is okay. If you are eating healthy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner then you are doing things right. You deserve to give yourself a little treat every day.
Speaking of breakfast, it really is one of the most important meals of the day. I never knew why people said this because I honestly thought it wasn't doing much. I would rely on just a small mini bagel and a cup of coffee in high school, but I soon came to realize this wasn't going to be enough.
In the morning, you have to make sure that you are getting an adequate amount of food. Having a good proportion of food will help fuel you for a big chunk of your day. If I wasn't eating breakfast every morning now, I would feel like I was starving before lunch.
One of the biggest recommendations I have for beginning a healthy diet is to do it with someone else. I have seen firsthand how much easier it has been for important people in my life to have someone else to struggle through not having sweets all the time. I have seen how much of a difference it makes to have someone else eating the same kinds of foods you are eating.
You CAN do this. You just have to want it. It's going to be hard but know that you are stronger than you think. Eating healthy has given me a chance to stay in shape and has given me even more reasons to be happy.
