Spring semesters can be daunting. Usually, you're just trying to get by and make it to summer break, but if you follow these tips, you can do more than just get by.

1. Keep a planner.

I know it’s cliche and everyone says this, but keeping track of dates is a crucial part of succeeding in school. How can you expect to pass a class without knowing when papers are due or when the exams are? It doesn’t have to be a physical planner. Use your iPhone calendar or splurge by buying that Lilly planner that you know you want, or use both! I use both so that way I never forget or lose focus.

2. Color code your planner.

I don’t color code my physical planner, but I do color code on my iPhone calendar. Use a different color for your classes, organizations, and job. It just makes life easier.

3. Use the Reminders app.

It’s so easy to use and motivates me to actually complete my to-do list because I get to check it off and see how much I’ve completed. Also, you might as well use it because it’s already on your phone taking up space.

4. Make a list of goals for each day.

Or alternatively, make a list of things you must get done each day. I am definitely guilty of doing the latter. Every morning when I wake up, I make a list in my Notes or Reminders app of what I have to get done today.

5. Go to class.

It’s really that simple. No explanation needed.

6. Make a friend in each class and exchange numbers.

You know you won’t actually complete No. 5 and go to class everyday — no one goes everyday which is why you need to make a “friend” aka acquaintance in each class who you’ll sit by and complain with until the final exam. Then you’ll pass by them on campus and debate on whether you should wave or say hi. Then the moment will pass, and it will be awkward for both of you. Then you'll forget about that encounter until you see them again, and it happens again.

7. Ask for help from people who have already taken the class.

Chances are someone has taken that class and can probably offer you some study tips or send you in the right direction of a quizlet that will save your life.

8. Find the balance between school and your social life.

It’s a lot easier said than done, but don’t forget that the reason you’re at school is to study. The frat parties and nights out aren’t going anywhere, and neither will you if you constantly choose to go out instead of study for that exam the next day.

9. But don’t forget to take study breaks.

You might become overwhelmed if you constantly focus on school and forget about your friends. Go on a late night fast food run with your friends, or go for a drive with your friends to keep you sane.

10. Do not ever go to sleep.

That’s the only way you’ll complete everything on this list plus all of the things that you have to do for school, work and other organizations. Coffee and energy drinks are your new best friends.

If you follow these tips, then you really can have it all. Or you'll become even more overwhelmed and have to check into a mental institution. We'll just have to see how it goes.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
