There are many things in life that can make someone happy and almost all of them involve a relationship with another person. Having good relationships with friends, family members, significant others, classmates, and coworkers all improve a person's happiness and quality of life. However, there is another relationship that is often overlooked: the relationship people can have with their pets.

Personally, I have always had a pet since the day I was born. I have always had at least one cat at any given time and I have had turtles and fish as well. Living with pets makes my life so much more meaningful and fulfilled. Especially since I am an only child, my cat Samantha has always been a great companion to me. When I was younger and I often came home to an empty house after school, having my cat greet me everyday always brightened my day. Pets are also one of the best examples of unconditional love because no matter what happens in my life, my cat still loves to see me and spend time with me which is a great feeling.

Taking care of an animal that is completely dependent on you is a big responsibility but is also so rewarding. My pets have all been rescues and strays who my family and I took in. Knowing that these innocent animals probably would not be alive if it was not for us taking them in reminds me that I am doing the right thing and that overcoming the occasional struggles that come with having pets is completely worth it. Pets bring fun and liveliness into a home and getting to watch them thrive is a wonderful feeling.

I am so grateful that I was raised with pets in my household. Even though it has been difficult to deal with some of them passing away, I am still so thankful that I got to take care of them and that they positively influenced my life in so many ways. Each pet I have had has taught me something different and has brought so much joy into my life. Having pets has helped me become compassionate, more selfless, and has reminded me every day to care about the needs of others. I strongly encourage everyone to experience what having a pet is like because pets become a member of your family and you will be amazed at how much you love them. There are so many animals out there who need a home and who could help improve the lives of so many people. Pets will teach children (and adults) many important life lessons and will make their childhood so much better. Having a pet means having a companion who will always be there for you no matter what, even when no else will.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
