Having pals like the cast of "Friends"

Why should you strive to have your very own Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, Ross, Monica & Rachel? How do their personality traits contribute to an overall amazing friend group?

Having pals like the cast of "Friends"

I have always loved the cast of the hit television series "Friends" and longed for a friend group identical to their own. Although they are a wacky bunch, all of them find a way to balance out each others' strengths and weaknesses during the many ups and downs of the series. I always thought about how I wanted to have a group of friends like the six of them and shortly realized that I did have friends with their traits, which was why I admired the character's traits so much.

Joey is such a goofball, but when you really get to know him, you could always count on him to be there for you through any bad or good time in your life. I found Joey in many of my friends and realized that many people have his qualities. He is an amazing friend and is so kind and generous. Although he may not have 10 dollars to loan you or could spot you for a coffee at Central Perk, he is always eager to beat the guy up that broke your heart. Because he is a goofball and maybe isn't the smartest, his goofiness makes him appear to be innocent and sweet like a Teddy Bear. Having a Joey your life ensures that you always have someone that has your back.

Phoebe is also a little goofy, but if I had to classify her with anyone adjective I would use the word, "random." Some people may say that is a negative word to describe a friend with, but I think it makes her unique and interesting to be around. The way that she talks about random things like her adventures of living on the streets, horrible childhood, or two mothers draws her friends in and the audience of the series connects with her quirkiness and unique way of life. My friends that remind me of her keep me young and adventurous, which is something I hold dear within my own personal relationships.

Ross is an awkward overworked scientist that constantly refers to himself as a Doctor, even though he's just a grown man that likes to obsess over dinosaurs. His friends always seem to playfully pick on him because of his failed marriages and the reasons that they have failed. When I think of Ross, I think of a passionate and determined friend that is ready to overcome any obstacles that come his way, even if that may be saying the wrong name at the altar or marrying a woman that discovered she was gay. Ross is playfully awkward and has the positive attitude to overcome the jokes and push forward through the hurt. He's the friend you are wishing the universe would just give a break to.

Rachel is the rich beauty queen who soon becomes the middle working class mediocre woman. She is the example of working for your life and turning your life upside down to fight for yourself and what you want. Because she decided to not marry the man she was arranged to marry, she found herself and five amazing friends along the way. When I think of Rachel, I think of a hard worker that had to start from the bottom and slowly work her way to the top. As much as she struggled, she landed her dream job and had a beautiful baby girl with the love of her life. Having a Rachel in your life reminds you of how much hard work can pay off and benefit you in the long run.

Chandler is my favorite man of the bunch. I would describe him as sarcastic, witty and just frankly painfully awkward. I would think of someone who has been through a lot in his life but uses humor to overcome the obstacles and be where he is today as my own personal Chandler Bing. By finding Monica, he not only found a best friend but a lifelong partner. She brings out the best in him and shows that all you need is your other half to make you the best version of yourself. Chandler Bing is my ideal husband and I would love to acquire his number if anyone seems to have it.

Monica is the last and final friend that I wanted to talk about because I see myself in her and her character holds a personal space in my heart. She is not only a control and clean freak but has overcome body image issues and has been through her fair share of horrible guys. She reminds me of herself because of her compassion and steadfast personality. If she starts something she not only has to finish it but finish it better than anyone else. She would throw herself in front of a car for her friends and I admire that so much. She is a model of the woman that I want to be and I am glad that I can see some of my own characteristics within her.

The next time you watch the hit show "Friends" think about why you are watching it and why you admire the characters. Think about what characters you admire the most. Think even harder and you may see that some of them closely resemble your closest pals and even yourself!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
