You know that feeling you get as you approach the gate for your flight and have to say your goodbyes to the person that dropped you off at the airport?
It’s almost bitter-sweet.
Half of you is so excited to embark on whatever journey you have planned with a free-spirit, while the other half is holding back the tears swelling up in your eyes as you separate from the person that dropped you off; knowing you’ll miss them so dearly.
You get on the tram, drudge through the dreaded security disaster, and patiently wait for your flight to be called so you can board the plane; bringing you one step closer to the freedom you have been waiting to experience since you purchased the ticket.
I never understood why some people enjoy flying alone. Being totally responsible for not only yourself, but everything you have packed is completely terrifying… well at least for me. Mastering in forgetfulness, I am constantly having to make sure I’m sitting at the right gate so I don’t end up in Nicaragua; although that wouldn’t be the worst thing.
There’s also the downfall of having to sit next to complete strangers. Now I love meeting new people, but something about sharing an arm rest and relying on someone to wake you up when the snacks come around is just too much of a commitment for me.
As you can see; I either have really bad trust issues, or I just don’t enjoy being alone during a trialing time.
But the comforting is, we are NEVER alone. Wherever you go, God is with you.
This statement might begin to worry you as you think back on all the places you’ve been, and shouldn’t have been. Yet, He was there.
But fear not; God still loves you. He would never leave you, especially in a place where you both know you shouldn’t be. Constantly surrounding us, the Lord is trying to get us to notice Him. So how do we see God?
Because there are no “spiritual-blockas” (as I like to call them), that we can purchase at our favorite sunglass store; we must seek Him in different ways. Since God’s presence resides with us, He will show himself in recurring messages.
Have you ever seen a frequent word or a symbol that catches your eye, and seems to follow you everywhere you go? Or maybe you’ve been praying for a job for quite some time, but never get a call back after any first interview. Then one day, you receive a random call from a company that offers you a position, and is able to provide the financial need you’ve been telling God about every night.
Hellooo, that’s Him.
Jesus is constantly trying to get in contact with you!! And since He doesn’t have Facetime or Snapchat to spam us, He’ll follow us every day; speaking loudly through our lives.
In fact, Job 33:3 14-18 NLT tells us:
“For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings. He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride. He protects them from the grave, from crossing over the river of death.”
So, the next time you see that word/phrase that seems to be everywhere you go, that job opportunity that keeps popping up whenever you search online, or even that unsettling feeling that bubbles in your stomach when you’re somewhere you truly don’t want to be; you’ll see Him.
God isn’t the type of dad to be embarrassed of. If He is willing to forgive, love, and protect you unconditionally; why wouldn’t you want Him to be wherever you are? The Lord is our ultimate bodyguard, available 24/7. AND FREE!
The book of Joshua reassures this promise of protection, when Joshua is called to lead the Israelites across the Jordan River into the land God has promised them soon after the death of Moses.
The Lord assures in Joshua 1:5 NLT, that:
“No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.”
And
In Joshua 1:9 NLT, He decrees:
“This is my command- be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
What a confidence booster!! The Lord literally guaranteed Joshua not only protection, but a promise of His presence WHEREVER he goes. No limits, no boundaries; just an infinite playing field with God as the goalie.
I challenge you to not just SEE God, but to SEEK God.
When we search for the Lord, His presence will be known and His message will be even greater. The words, opportunities, and people that keep presenting themselves in your life are not a coincidence. They have a purpose, and are a part of the divine plan He has made for you.
Therefore, embrace and seek these messages; feel confident that wherever you go, He is with you.
