"You're never going to get a job," or "You really shouldn't be getting another tattoo," is something people with tattoos are absolutely sick of hearing. It has been a stereotype for SO many years that a person with tattoos usually means that they have either been in prison or is trying to start a rap career and add "Lil" in front of their name.
I just want you to know that I do have tattoos, I have yet to wear an orange jumpsuit and I am planning on that not happening. It is now 2017 and I think that assumption needed to be left behind along time ago.
I understand certain professions like being a teacher or news anchor probably shouldn't be walking around looking similar to Mike Tyson repping a face tat, but them having a tattoo isn't going to impact the way they do their jobs. The only thing that should matter when hiring someone is the person's resume and personality.
Also, I will admit that there are reasons why people view tattoos in such a negative perspective, from the punk rock scene (even though Green Day is amazing) to criminals having a bunch of them.
Just because a permanent ink design is on someone's skin does not change him or her as a person, or make him or her a bad person. In my opinion, it is considered a form of art ( & sometimes a drunk impulsive decision) and should be viewed in that way. It's a way to express yourself, represent certain memories and the ones with a story behind it are the best.
I'm sure this stereotype won't ever change, or at least won't for a while. Just next time get to know a person before judging them based off of their tattoos.
So go get that inspirational quote or Chinese symbol. You should be proud of it and embrace your inner Adam Levine.
