It's that time of year when the girl who was (usually) the fan favorite but didn't get the heart of the latest bachelor steps into the spotlight and stars in her own fairy tale on The Bachelorette. For Bachelor Nation, it's time for us to go through the journey with Becca, the girl who had her heart broken on national television and handled it with complete grace.
What You Should Be Excited For
The men. Always. There's nothing better than having a little too much testosterone in a house and watching them be petty (sometimes even worse than the girls get) towards one another. Plus, who doesn't love ranking the guys and seeing the Bachelorette's reaction to the different things the men say during the opening night introductions. The drama that unfolds during The Bachelorette I think is sometimes even better than on the Bachelor.
The dates. I mean, come on, most of the dates that they send the contestants on are basically a fairy tale. I'm not saying you can't create that in your real life, but let me tell you that four years in to a relationship, I'm not getting serenaded by a famous artist after spending the day at a vineyard learning the history of expensive wine. Not that my man doesn't spoil me, but it's just not real life, literally, so why not live vicariously through it?
Becca's family during hometowns is something that I think everyone is going to be excited about. She gets chosen on The Bachelor, thinks she's getting her happy ending, gets her heart broken in front of the millions of viewers, and you think Uncle Gary isn't going to be a fiercer guard dog than he was before? I'm. So. Excited. Uncle Gary alone is going to kick some ass, and I can't wait for them to protect her even more than they did before. Regardless, it's going to be interesting to see what she carries from The Bachelor into her season of The Bachelorette.
What You Should Dread
Honestly? I think the only thing I, personally, am not excited about is hearing the phrase Let's Do The Damn Thing over and over again. Other than that, she was fantastic on Arie's season and handled everything with such poise and grace that I think she either deserves an award for her outstanding acting, or she's going to be the best damn mom in the world one day because she had patience and didn't lose it like I know most girls would have.
This season of The Bachelorette (in Chris Harrison's voice), is going to be the most dramatic season yet... Or one you don't want to miss... Or the most romantic season yet... Or 10 of the other sayings he always uses for each season.
So, Bachelor Nation, raise your glasses to Becca, and Happy Bachelorette Season!
