You don't wake up every morning and choose happiness off of a menu. As easy as that would make life, I believe that is skipping a step. Happiness itself isn't chosen, but the things/people that make you happy are. Standing up and screaming "today I choose to be happy" won't make you happy, although it might make you smile. There is an unspoken idea that in order to be happy we need to live up to others expectations or sacrifice our own well being for others happiness. This is simply not the case. Our happiness can be paralleled with others happiness and we need to learn to live and smile simply for us.
Happiness comes in many different forms and means different things to different people.
Happiness can be a person.
Happiness can be laughing so hard that you can barely breathe.
Happiness can be the little moments that keep you going.
Happiness can be spending hours doing what you love.
Happiness can be your bed.
Happiness can be seeing others smile and radiate joy.
Happiness can be finally succeeding after so much perseverance.
Happiness can be the fulfilling impact of positivity.
Happiness can be the unwavering power of kindness.
Happiness can be singing at the top of your lungs.
Happiness can be imperfections and flaws as they mold and shape us.
Happiness can be the constants in life.
Happiness can be having an open heart to others experiences and mindsets.
Happiness can be lending a hand to others.
Happiness can be letting go of the past and moving forward.
Happiness can be indulging in peace and quiet.
So find whatever makes you happy and focus on those people and experiences that make your heart radiate with joy. You'll find it's the little things that make you happy.
