Hangovers Suck, So Never Have One Again

This rehydration drink does it all.

The club was going up on a weekday, and now you're going into school/work late, still half-tipsy, with a raging headache, and of course you forgot to charge your phone. Sounds like an SOS moment to me. Though you may not be able to beat the traffic, you still might be able to dodge the hangover coming at you at full speed.

The biggest myth that way too many people believe about hangovers is that the morning cup of coffee will get you back on your feet.

SO DEAD WRONG IT HURTS.

Coffee has caffeine.

And what does caffeine do?

That's right - it makes you dehydrated.

And what's the main cause of hangovers?

DEHYDRATION.

Your drunk self was too wasted to remember to drink plenty of water before bed, and now here you are at school/work, unintentionally making the horrific hangover even more extreme with a Grande Iced Skinny Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks. (and yes, that is my order.)

What you should be doing after a hangover is hydrating, but even people who know to stay away from coffee, still unknowingly go about this the wrong way.

A lot of people, especially athletes, grab a sports drink first thing.

But here's the low-down on these popular sports drinks, like Gatorade and others:

1. Calories: 100

2. Sugar and Carbs: 28 g. each

3. Artificial Ingredients: Ace K, Sucralose, Color

4. Potassium: 60 mg.

5. Magnesium: 0 mg.

6. Sodium: 220 mg.

Now that may not seem too bad, but let's compare this to other well-known hydration drinks, such as Pedialyte and others:

1. Calories: 23

2. Sugar and Carbs: 6 g. & 12 g.

3. Artificial Ingredients: Flavor, Sucralose, Ace K, Red 40

4. Potassium: 4.7 mg.

5. Magnesium: 0 mg.

6: Sodium: 10.6 mg.

Okay, sounds even better. Less calories, and sugar. But what are those ingredients? And why is there so little potassium and other vital minerals?

This is me telling you to turn away from both of those drinks and try SOS, an all-natural, organic, vegan, gluten-free, hydrating drink mix.

(Wow, that's a lot of commas.)

I seriously don't think you'll ever go back.

First I'll give you the hard facts, so you can compare SOS to the two other options listed above:

1. Calories: 20

2. Sugar and Carbs: 5 g. (cane sugar) & 7 g.

3. Artificial Ingredients: None

4. Potassium: 390 mg.

5. Magnesium: 100 mg.

6. Sodium: 660 mg.

Fewer calories, no artificial ingredients, less sugar, natural sugar, and a major increase in the three minerals.

Usually the first question I get is, "Wow, why is there so much sodium? It's bad for you and also causes dehydration."

Well, first off, it should be known that this is also an athletic drink.

And how do athletes become dehydrated?

From sweating.

So what comes out in your sweat?

SALT!

And what if you're just using SOS as a hangover cure? (Honestly, I highly doubt you were not sweating in a crowded house or on the dance floor last night...)

But either way, you still absolutely needsodium to help stay hydrated, because it is a major electrolyte - as is potassium.

"Using the best in medical science, SOS is engineered by a leading doctor, two former elite athletes, and a retired military medical officer with the purpose of combating dehydration..."

And if that's not convincing enough, here are a few people who also use and promote SOS:

1. Scott Dixon: Professional race car driver

2. Blair Tuke, Pete Burling: Olympic Sailing gold medalists

3. Sir Ben Ainslie: 5 time Olympic medalist

4. Wallabies: Australian national rugby team

5. Hamish Carter:Olympic triathlon gold medalist

SOS is:

"A hydration drink mix as effective as an IV drip."

"A hydration drink that replaces the correct amount of electrolytes and not a token gesture."

"A hydration drink that is Low in calories / Low in sugar product."

"A hydration drink that’s focus is purely and only electrolyte replacement for the athlete*."

(*And in this case: partier.)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

208151

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
