Let me set the scene for my perfect ticket purchase: two tickets, best seats available, for Hamilton on Friday, December 30, 2016 in Chicago.
It’s October. Tickets went on sale in June. Ticketmaster has zero seats left and the only offers are resale tickets. Fine, okay, I can deal with this. I still want best seats available. And it looks like I’m going to have to pay $2857.50 per ticket for seats on the Orchestra level, row V, seats 101 and 102 because yes, I have to buy at least two tickets from this seller. This comes out to a total of $5,715, which is at least twice what is in my current bank account. Is it really worth it? I mean it’s Hamilton and all, but OVER FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR TWO TICKETS? Here’s what else I could use that money for:
1. 1,143 grande Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks
2. 879 chicken burritos from Chipotle
3. 163 17-oz S’well Bottles
4. One $5715 Target gift card
5. 38 pairs of Hunter boots
6. 190 Love Your Melon beanies
7. 888 Webkinz Delightz Donut Pup Plush toys
I know you want one (or eight hundred).
