Halloween is a fun holiday for everyone. It is the one day out of the year where you can dress up and go from door-to-door asking for candy, and someone will actually give it to you. Unfortunately, Halloween is not as safe as it used to be, and some not-so-kind people do hide some harmful things in Halloween candy. Because of this, schools, churches, and other groups have held events to ensure that Halloween is a safe and fun holiday for all.
For seventeen years, Rollins College has made it a tradition to plan a free event called Halloween Howl so that members of the community can have a fun and safe Halloween. Rollins encourages all students to volunteer to help make the event a success. Students donate candy, assist with registering guests, and circulate throughout the event, ensuring everyone is having a great day. Student organizations, Greek life, and residence halls all provide a booth and family-friendly activity for the event. Face painting, crafts, and other games are just a few things that organizations do and to the children’s delight, candy is plentiful.
For older kids, or the younger ones who like a scary adventure, haunted houses are located throughout the campus for all to enjoy. Since many families have children and dogs, there are costume contests that allow both the humans and the pets to win prizes for best costumes. Additionally, a DJ and students provide family-friendly entertainment throughout the event.
This year marks seventeen years that Rollins College has held this event. The event is located at Rollins College in Winter Park. It is located throughout the center of campus. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, October 29 from 2-5 PM. The event is free for everyone who attends.
