One of the beautiful things (some would say) about living in Pennsylvania is the ability to experience all four seasons. Although each season has aspects that everyone enjoys, it is a very well known fact that among all four seasons fall seems to be the favorite. Although there are quite a few things that I hate about fall, like the effort I have to put in to create a "cute fall outfit" instead of wearing shorts and a tank, being pale and raking leaves rather than laying out and embracing my tan, starting school instead of being on vacation (CLEARLY you can see I'm a huge fan of summer) I can understand why this seems to be the case. Fall offers bonfires, cute clothes, cute fall pictures, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween, scare houses, etc. All of these things are great, however, among the reasons listed above, there is one main reason why I am not fall's biggest fan. Now, I understand that if you're reading this and you are one of those people who count down the days until fall begins you are probably wondering how one could hate the season that everyone seems to love... let me explain my reasoning.
One of the great things about fall is Halloween. October is a time for scare houses, Fright-night, bonfires, haunted hay rides, etc. And like most people I tend to enjoy all of these things (except for haunted houses; I don't mess with those). Along with all of these fun events fall offers us, during this time of year I've noticed something. Fall isn't scary because of the scary movie marathons or the visits to scary haunted houses. It is scary because of the certain type of people that come out during this lovely time of year. And no I am not talking about the line of teeny-boppers waiting for their pumpkin spice lattes. I am talking about the people who tend to ruin everything there is to enjoy about the Halloween season. These are the people who take the "Halloween spirit" to a whole new and disturbing level. For example, you may see these people on the news dressed up as clowns hurting innocent people. So much so, that they have to shut down college campuses because there was a " clown spotting."
And now every time I see a clown, whether its on TV, at a fair, in my dreams (thanks IT) I am absolutely terrified. They ruin things like haunted hay rides, fright-night, trips to the Scare House, etc. because as far as you know, the clown following you in that corn maze is going to make you tomorrow's tragedy on the news. Yes, I understand that there are dangerous people featured on the news throughout all four seasons, However, I GUARANTEE YOU that I do not have to worry about a crazy clown coming after me any other time during the year.
Now don't get me wrong, as I've said before, fall has a lot of great foods and fun activities to offer. And it could be worse ... don't even get me started on winter.
