Grow Up, Halloween Is Only For Kids

Many people believe that once you become an adult, Halloween isn't as fun.

Although there are some drawbacks to not being a kid anymore, adults not being able to enjoy Halloween as much as children is a myth. No matter what age you are, Halloween will always be fun! Who doesn't love getting free candy or being whoever you want for the day?

Plus, the endless amount of scary movies that you can watch as the time approaches. Halloween may be different as adults but if anything, it's more enjoyable and here are some reasons why.

1. Giving out the candy instead of Trick-or-Treating.

As kids, we were so eager to go trick-or-treating. We would count down the minutes and seconds until we could start busting down the doors of our neighbors for candy. It was always a competition for who had the most candy or the biggest candy bars. It would be the only day that we could get away with stuffing our faces with candy.

Even though we can't go trick-or-treating anymore (without being judged very harshly or even getting in legal trouble in some cities), that doesn't mean we can't eat all the candy we want. You are bound to get free candy from any party you go to or from a friendly neighbor. But why not be the one who gives out the candy, while eating it to reward yourself? And maybe scare the kids just a little bit with your costume.

2. The parties!

When we were kids, Halloween parties at our school were the best. We would show off our costumes and get out of doing any school work. We thought parties were filled with games like bobbing for apples, spooky bingo, and scavenger hunts.

As adults, we actually know what parties are like and it is way better than any kid party. It's filled with dancing, eating candy, drinking games, and staying up till the crack of dawn with your friends to make memories you won't forget.

3. Costumes.

Yes, kids love to go all out with their costumes. Some have them homemade, while the majority of other kids have theirs bought in-store or online. Most of the time, a lot of costumes are popular characters from the year and are pretty much all the same.

But let's be honest, we probably put more effort into our costumes than we did when we were younger. We want our costumes to be unique and the most talked about. We combine what we already have and what we buy from stores to make bomb ass costumes. Making sure every detail, from the clothes to our hair and makeup is perfect.

4. Haunted Houses/Hayrides.

We normally weren't allowed to go to any haunted hayrides or houses until we got older. Mostly so we wouldn't get nightmares, or wind up crawling into our parent's bed at night in fear of the scary scarecrow coming to attack us.

But now, we can go to the spookiest, haunted places without any permission. You can go to an asylum and get harassed by a bunch of strangers who pop out at you or go to Jason's woods and get chased down by another stranger. There are so many endless amounts of ways to shit yourself.

5. Halloween decorations.

Unless your a college student like me, being an adult means you most likely have your own place. Not only can you make the inside of your house eerie and creepy; you can also decorate the outside of your house with craziest and most horrifying things. Just try not to scare the neighborhood kids too much.

Hope you all have the absolute best, fun-filled Halloween this year and for all the years to come!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
