Halloween Is Over, Now It's Christmas Time

I am so over Halloween.

People acting and dressing like hoebags because of a stupid holiday revolved around candy sales and goblins? Pass. Now it is time for a real holiday: Christmas.

Whether you are Christian or not, Christmas is truly a magical time of year. Everyone is on their best behavior and singing the best songs to ever exist (I LOVE CHRISTMAS SONGS). And it is not like Halloween where every one half-asses decorations (if they even put them up), people go FULL OUT on Christmas. Beautiful twinkling lights line the rims of every roof in town and tall Christmas trees are decked out with hundreds of ornaments.

Sure, Halloween movies are okay, but Christmas movies are the absolute best. National Lampoon Christmas Vacation is the definition of the Christmas season in my house. I think the best people can quote that movie backward and forwards.

Also, you don't get any school off for Halloween, proving that it is not a real holiday. In contrast, we get almost a month off to go home and celebrate Christmas with your family and friends. Speaking of friends, you and all your high school friends to get to get the gang back together and hang like nothing has changed. Because like the plaque that I have in my dorm room says (that I got for Christmas last year), "True friendship is not about being inseparable, but being separated and nothing has changed."

I get a crazy high when I buy presents for people. I love seeing their reactions when they open the gifts and really value what I have given them. Christmas is literally an excuse to do my favorite thing: shop. From Black Friday to New Years, I am at the mall at least 2 times a week if its a good week.

Maybe you believe that November 1st is a little too early to start celebrating Christmas, but whenever you start, go full out. Really take the time to enjoy the Christmas season as it does only come around once a year. Oh and don't forget about Thanksgiving either!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
