Another day, another great podcast to listen to. It's been a hot second since I posted anything about the radio channels I've been treating my ears to lately, so here's one of the newest and most captivating podcasts on the waves right now: it's called "The Habitat". This podcast combines the no-nonsense information of journalism with every kid's biggest dream: being an astronaut!
Dropping just this week on Gimlet Media, "The Habitat" is a podcast hosted by Lynn Levy, who tracks one of the most daring science experiments to date--namely, putting a group of scientists in a big bubble in rural Hawaii for an entire year (!) in order to test out how well equipment (and humans) would function during a year-long mission to Mars. The show covers everything from the lead-up to the experiment's beginning to the time spent inside the dome, complete with audio diaries from the "astronauts" as they experience everything within their bubble firsthand.
The show promises to be completely captivating--I mean, who wouldn't want to learn more about life on Mars?!--and it also is sure to show us listeners how the world outside of our world works: Levy explains the realities of life on Mars, which includes poisonous air and super-long flight timing, while also having those involved in the experiment report live and discuss what it's like to live in a bubble where each move and motion is analyzed. Think about living with your roommates for an entire year without a break--then imagine having to report back to NASA with that information! It's truly a wild concept, and I can't wait to give "The Habitat" a listen.
You can listen to "The Habitat" and other Gimlet Media productions on any podcast app!
