This week I attended a gymnastics camp that not only I learned new skills, drills for my gymnasts, but I learned why sometimes using the D.I.P.S method could benefit your gymnast now, but in the future. When learning a new skill, just throwing it is not only dangerous, but it creates bad habits because they do not know the correct shapes or techniques to use during it. This is why using the D.I.P.S strategy (Drills into progressing skills) can help build a solid foundation for a successful skill for your gymnast.
Creating the right shapes, using the right techniques and build up for a skill is the way to teach a safe and successful skill. In most cases, you might feel that you won't have enough time to set time aside to work drills and shaping, but when you set the time aside it will save you time from having to take steps back due to incorrect techniques and shaping within skills. This is not only knowledge that can apply to life as its own, we might feel overwhelmed or even nervous because the time is limited. But I am here to tell you that taking one step back can lead you to have the ability to take two steps forward.
Life is beautiful when it comes to allowing setbacks to be setups for success and overall achievements.
So, for now on, I highly encourage everyone to not only allow yourself to take two steps back but also take a step of faith when allowing the process of setbacks take full action into your daily life or difficult situation because it can lead to having a blessing in disguise happen to you. And one day you'll look back on the situation and be thankful it directed you to where you are today.
