To The Guy That Doesn't Understand Chivalry

Be a decent human being.

To The Guy That Doesn't Understand Chivalry
Josh Willink

To the guy that cat calls women driving down the street; to the guy who treats women like they are property; to the guy that doesn't understand chivalry:

I consider myself to be what I would call the furthest from the mainstream feminism. I am a woman and not a feminist and that is okay. However, I do want to be treated with respect. Trying to get my attention as I walk down the side of the road to tell me how "hot" I am is not respect. Not letting me socialize with who I want to socialize is not respect. Also, hate to break it to you fellas but chivalry is nowhere near dead. Women all over this world appreciate it.

Chivalry is treating me like the woman that I am. Women are beautiful, graceful, and extremely fragile human beings.

Chivalry is opening the door for me when my hands are full. Don't just stare at me waiting for me to get myself to open the door for you. Just lend a helping hand.

Chivalry is bringing flowers or my favorite ice cream when I have had a bad day. It doesn't have to be expensive or even bought. Just sit with me and brighten what seems to be a gloomy world.

Chivalry is picking me up for a date. It is not a date if I have to drive to the restaurant myself. Sorry you are using an extra half of a gallon of gas to come to my house first.

Chivalry is having a real conversation with me. Just because I am a woman does not mean I am not intelligent or do not enjoy the same topics you enjoy.

Chivalry is paying the bill.

Chivalry is walking on the street side of the sidewalk. This is ultimately a sign of protection, whether it be from the puddle a car is about to drive through or from something else.

Chivalry is texting good morning and goodnight. It is nice to know that I am the first thing you think of in the morning and the last thing you think of before you go to sleep.

Chivalry is giving up your jacket on a cold night. Men are naturally warmer than women. If you think its a tad nippy out chances are I am freezing my butt off.

Chivalry is always being there when I might need you. This isn't always possible physically but emotionally. I need to know I have someone on my side.

Next time you think about cat calling a woman, don't. Next time you watch a woman struggling, help her. Not only is this chivalry but just being a decent human being. That's all chivalry is.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
