Halloween is coming up, and we all know what that means: pumpkins, haunted houses, Halloween themed Pillsbury sugar cookies, and, of course, revealing costumes.
Halloween is the one time of the year that it is acceptable, even expected, for girls to wear the least amount clothes they possibly can without being judged by anyone. Got a short tight dress and some animal ears? Then you’re set to have the most basic costume a girl can wear on Halloween - - Slutty Cat! How about a leotard and bunny ears? Sexy Rabbit! A black corset and a superhero cape? Seductive Superhero! You get the picture.
Pinterest probably has more traffic on Halloween than any other time of the year, and rightfully so because having the perfect costume to show off is like, a social obligation, right? And why buy a $60 dollar costume from the Halloween store when you can DIY it from Pinterest even better?
Halloween is also the one time of the year a girl can force her boyfriend to wear “the most adorable couple’s costume ever” and take millions of pictures (I am definitely guilty of this), or force her group of friends into being slutty animals, or sexy spice girls, or provocative princesses with her.
One of a girl’s favorite parts of Halloween night is not only showing off her pictures on social media, but seeing what everyone else wore and secretly wishing that she had the same idea. The picture a girl posts on Instagram the night of Halloween is very important. Getting down the fake laugh for “candid” pictures is harder than it looks. If you say you haven’t tried to take a fake candid picture, you’re probably lying. A girl will look through her pictures for an hour, trying to find the perfect one before the prime time to post it is over. Without the perfect squat, angle, lighting, and pose, what’s the point in even posting it in the first place?
And who could forget that when Halloween falls on a weekend, it takes on a whole new name of “Halloweekend” That means there is even more pressure to find multiple costumes that are all equally as sexy, therefore equally as awesome. One rule every girl knows is that wearing the same costume twice is NOT acceptable and she would much rather stay in than be seen/photographed in the same costume more than once.
So girls, gather your friends, start a Halloween board on Pinterest (if you don’t already have one), hit the Halloween stores, or thrift stores, or the bin of your old dancewear, and get crackin’ because Halloween is just a few weeks away!
