This past week Gucci presented its fall 2018 show that was titled "Cyborg Manifesto." The show took place in a turquoise operating room with sterile hospital chairs for the audience.
"The concept of the operating room reflects the work of a designer—the act of cutting, splicing, and reconstructing materials and fabrics to create a new personality and identity with them," according to Gucci's Twitter.
Alessandro Michele is known for going overtop for his runway shows and paying attention to the smallest details. This show was no exception.
The invitation for the show was an orange timer, placed in a plastic bag that said "Parental Advisory, Explicit Content." The numbers counted down until the lights went dark for the show to begin. The invitation came with no explanation, except for warning the audience things would get weird. And they did.
Michele took the cyborg theme to the next level with models carrying replicas of their own heads as accessories. Other models had a third eye in the middle of their forehead like a cyborg.
Many models carried Chameleons, baby dragons (or "puppy dragons" as the internet keeps calling them), and a snake that is identical to the one most seen on Gucci clothing.
How will Michele outshine this show next year? Every show you think "This is it, this is the most bizarre show I have seen."
But then Michele just comes back with even more bizarre and beautiful designs the next year.
What can we expect from next season?
