The Best Friends Grow Up Together, But Never Apart

It is all about who stays.

The Best Friends Grow Up Together, But Never Apart
Carly Halitzer

Anyone can walk into your life, but it is all about who stays. It is very easy for people to walk into and even out of your life. The people who stay, even when the times get tough, are the ones who are and always will be worth it. Anyone can stick around for all the good times, but never forget the ones who stuck around through your highest of highs and never once thought of leaving during your lowest of lows.

As we grow up we can see who our real friends always were and who never was.

People will walk in and out of your life like waves crashing on the shore. There will be people who will pull you under and you will lose yourself as if you are drowning-- those are not your friends. There will also be people who will pull you in and keep you around to have fun, but then come crashing down on you. The people you want to keep around are the ones who do not pull you in, but the ones that calmly approach you, who do not pull you under, and who do not only keep you around for the good times, but stay for everything in between as well.

The first test on friendship is college. As we go away to college we all start over and create a life for ourselves that we always wanted, but never could have in high school. We become the persons we always wanted to be-- a better version of ourself. In college you will always be making new friends along the way, but your friends from home will always have a special place in your heart. You may not always know when the next time you will see eachother again is, but that does not bother you because you know that a few months or even a year will have no burden on true friendship. Then, before you even know it you are home wrapped up in your friend's arms and everything is exactly how you left it before and those are the most beautiful friendships.

Sometimes it is not all about who you talk to everyday, but who you can not talk to for long periods of time and it does not matter because things will always go right back to where you left them off at. Remember who was always there for you when you truly needed them and who never was.

So, growing up does not always mean growing apart.

Everyone grows up at some point, life will start to move faster, you will become the person you were always meant to be, you will chase your dreams, you probably will get heart broken more than once but you will always just have to keep on keepin’ on.

When you look back at your life you do not want to be remember the bad times and the terrible people, so cut them off now and keep around the ones who were always meant to be.

Some people are meant to stay in pictures of the past and others are meant to be standing next to you telling the stories of your memories.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
