Green tea, known as a miracle drink, and the ultimate "anti-aging beverage," has many different health benefits. Besides being one of my favorite drinks, I have found drinking green tea to be beneficial to my physical, and mental health throughout all of its different side effects.
This miracle drink can do a variety of things from stimulating our brains, to decreasing body fat. The beauty of green tea is that all it takes is a tea bag and some hot water to experience its magical side effects.
The hype surrounding green tea and is well deserved since this tea really provides the benefits that people claim it does. There are both long-term and short-term benefits associated with drinking green tea.
Personally, after beginning to drink green tea I have found that I have been able to better focus on different tasks. Also, after I had made drinking green tea apart of my daily routine, I noticed that I have been losing weight, and my skin has cleared up significantly.
A study published in Green and black tea consumption and risks of stroke: a meta-analysis by Arab L. et al. says that individuals who drink three or more cups of tea a day had a 21% lower risk of a stroke than people who consume less than one cup a day.
Additionally, Healthline called catechins, which were discovered in 2010 by researchers, are especially beneficial in preventing heart disease and cancers, and many other illnesses such as Alzheimer's and Parkinsons Disease. It can also help improve and strengthen your brain functions including your long-term and short-term memory.
One thing that people do not know about green tea is that it does not contain as much caffeine as coffee or even as other teas. Black tea and white tea, for example, contain much more caffeine than green tea does.
As a result, green tea does not make you "jumpy," or "hyper," like other, highly caffeinated drinks do. You cannot get a "caffeine high" from green tea which makes sure your cognitive functions are stable and alert.
But, what green tea does contain is the amino acid L-theanine, which crosses the blood-brain barrier and increases the activity of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA which helps to prevent anxiety.
Another incredible health benefit of green tea is that it can help people lose weight, a factor that has impacted me personally. Green tea can boost your metabolism, anywhere from 3-11%, meaning it assists weight loss and lower the risk of obesity.
I know that drinking green tea is benefitting my health in the long run by preventing these different diseases and through the stimulating my brain, helping me lose weight and clearing my skin (as I have already seen). Green tea tastes good and it's good for your health, so why say no? Green tea is the way to go.
