Greek Life: for everyone not a part of it, you probably just assume that it’s just like it’s portrayed in the movies. Just a bunch of drunken guys running around, acting like idiots and partying all the time. Along with some snobby girls, who only care about what you’re wearing and how pretty you are. But for everyone apart of it, they know a very different story.
Greek life is family. It may sound silly when you hear someone in Greek life refer to a person in their fraternity or sorority as their "brother" or "sister" but in Greek life we’re family. The house you stay in is your home away from home for your college career. After fours years, the word "friend" just doesn't cut it anymore. These people are family. They've been through it all with you, and they'll be by your side long after you graduate.
Greek life is Philanthropy. Did you know that the brothers of Sigma Chi have raised over one million dollars for the Huntsman Cancer Institute? The sisters of Kappa Kappa Gamma have raised over $624,500 to Reading is Fundamental. The brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon have donated $242,225 to Children’s Miracle Network. The sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta have donated $695,242 to CASA for Children. You probably get the picture.
Greek Life is diversity. We’re not all blonde. We’re not all rich. We’re all pretty unique in Greek Life. We all from different places, different backgrounds, different financial statuses and different cultures.
Greek Life is School. On average, Greeks maintain a higher GPA than the average student GPA. Greek Life isn’t all swaps and parties, it is long hours in the library as well.
