All eyes have been on FSU's greek life for the past two months following the tragic death of Andrey Coffey, a fraternity pledge to Pi Kappa Phi, as well as unrelated drug arrests involving two fraternity members. At the start of the interim ban on greek life, which started early last November, FSU's president, John Thrasher, vowed that there would be change.
Two months later, Thrasher allows us to start moving forward, albeit with a somewhat modified greek lifestyle. A number of substantial changes have been implemented to help us not only limit degenerative activity, but also keep us involved as a community.
The conditions of the suspension being lifted have the greek community being closely monitored moving forward. Raising the minimum GPA, limited and monitored functions with alcohol, increased documented community service hours, and shortened new member periods, are a few of the modifications made to the greek community to ensure the continues health and rehabilitation of the community.
