College professors can become some of the most important people in your life. They are not just our instructors, but they are often our source of inspiration. Create a positive relationship with your professors because you need them.

1. Sometimes they stay longer than their office hours. (Thank you!)

I cannot tell you how many times I have had professors stay a little longer to help me. They are so encouraging and willing to help when they can. If your professors do this, thank them for their help because they do not have to.

2. They greet you with a smile.

Our professors have good and bad days just like we do. If they can come to class with a smile on their face and give a great lecture, you can be present and listen.

3. They make lectures creative and interesting.

It takes a special person to make sitting through a long PowerPoint interesting.

4. They find different ways to explain material to you.

My professors constantly emphasize that you can never have too many tools in you tool box. They also demonstrate this when they teach the material in multiple ways. Thank God for their brilliant minds.

5. They remind you about assignments.

It is your job to keep up with your assignments and your professor is not required to do that for you. So, if they do send out an announcement every once in a while be glad.

6. They have high standards for you.

If your professors have high standards for you be honored.

7. They do not allow failure to be an option.

A great professor reminds you that you will not always succeed while you pursue your future degree. They let you know that it is okay to stumble and fall because you are not supposed to be perfect. However, they also let you know failure is not an option and are willing to support you on this great journey.

Can you think of some qualities that make your professors great? If so, then go thank them for being an inspiring person.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
