The tails also known as the fatty acids of each lipid are hydrophobic while proteins, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids love water. An example of this includes the perfectly straight circle of division between oil and water. Lipids have an insecurity. Yet they are not attached to it because it makes them unique. The hydrophobic tail of each lipid is why our cells are able to have a membrane in which keeps toxins out of the cell. Their insecurity saves their lives –– our life.
Whether the task is being performed by lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, or nucleic acids, your cells improvise as you run. Your cells improvise as you walk. Your cells improvise when you’re happy, when you’re sad, when you’re angry, and when you’re confused. Your body is art. Art full of microscopic cells in which act and react in the present.
Your cells are not patiently waiting, they’re passionately smashing every expectation. Your cells rise up to the occasion because you want to be alive. You want to thrive. Cells live and die, but who will tell their story? The answer is you. You will map out your story.
The famous book, Great Gatsby, on the not-so-ideal American dream has guided me to the values I want my story to stem from.
Lets start with the green light on the dock of Jay Gatsby's house. It is telling me to go, to run for my ideal reality, to catch myself at a place of peace, happiness, and soul.
Another character in this book, Myrtle, who came from low-income and married a rich man, was described as vivacious during Gatsbys first encounter with her. The riddle was solved that the two of them had cheated their way to the billionaire lifestyle every American dreams of having. Through the story of Myrtle and Gatsby, I realized I don't want to commit to a career because of the textbook. I don't want to commit to a career because of the salary. I don't want to commit to the career because that is what I a "supposed" to be.
If I have no passion, if I have no courage, if I have no heart, I will end up lost in the Wizard of Oz with the lions, tigers, and bears eating away at my happiness. Point being, my number one value in life is smiles of joy. I'm always helping others, sacrificing my satisfaction for others, and I will never stop helping others but I will stop sacrificing my satisfaction.
With college comes a fresh start, a time to create everlasting habits of work and everlasting hugs of friendship. So, I will continue to be vivacious and I will continue to follow my not-so-American dream.
