Temple University students have several options available to them in terms of getting a good burger, and if they know where to look, they won't settle for a fast food burger. Here are six places around Temple that lovers of the quintessential American classic should check out!

Burger Tank

Burger Tank is a staple amongst the Norris Street food trucks, and you can smell the cooking from a distance. The cooks use a high quality beef, but the prices are still great. Take advantage of a combo meal and choose from one of the MANY burgers to be prepared just the way you want. Try a spicy Pyro Burger or an Epic Burger with steak sauce, or find whichever one suits your culinary needs. The burgers are unbelievably fresh and travel well when ordering to go. If you're new to experiencing the Temple food trucks, Burger Tank is a great place to start.

The Draught Horse

Most students know The Draught Horse as a spacious bar and premier nighttime hangout, known for having some craft brews available. By day, however, food is the focus, and good old fashioned burgers are the highlights of the menu. Draught Horse's burgers are carefully crafted and served on a special onion roll. From the Smokehouse Burger to the JAWN Burger; there's even a burger where they put BBQ pulled pork and cole slaw. Enjoy a first class burger at one of the coolest spots around Temple. You're not a true Temple student until you've experienced "The Horse."

Richie's

Arguably the most well known food stand on campus, Richie's, a family business spanning multiple generations, has been serving the Temple community with great classic eats for over 40 years. Richie Jr. currently runs the stand, and is amongst Hooter The Owl as a recognizable figure on campus. His upbeat attitude, quick service, hilarious personality, and special relationships with loyal customers is really unique for a man who works a really challenging profession.

You really can't go wrong with anything you order from Richie's, and that includes some great burgers. As a spice lover, my favorite is the Sriracha Burger, but Richie can make you anything. Make sure you wash down your burger with an iced coffee. It's honestly some of the best I've had, and lots of Temple students agree.

Down Home Diner

If you ever find yourself with some free time and an empty stomach while at the Center City campus, walk three blocks over to the Down Home Diner at Reading Terminal Market. Even though the rest of the Market closes relatively early, the Diner remains open for evening hours. Despite the location, this cool little place with a huge menu has plenty of places to sit. Here, you can get burgers from a classic cheeseburger to an adventurous Southwest Turkey Burger with salsa. Down Home Diner even serves chocolate egg cream, which is an amazing drink that almost no one's heard of.

Champ's Diner

If you're looking for an awesome breakfast or lunch to help your Sunday hangover, head to Champ's on Cecil B. Moore. Amongst other awesome dishes like Oreo Waffles, a popular choice is the classic Bacon Cheeseburger. Enjoy this with some french fries and an ice cold soda and you'll be feeling better in no time.

Have you tried any of these burger places? Are there any hidden gems that aren't listed here? Happy eating!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
