President Trump’s latest twitter tirade is perhaps the single most serious accusation he has tweeted thus far. He fired up a series of tweets on March 4 at 3:35 a.m., accusing former President Obama of wire tapping the phones in Trump Tower just a month prior to the 2016 general election. He then went on to compare this hypothetical situation to both Watergate and McCarthyism, revealing his ignorance of McCarthyism, and in turn referred to the former President as a “bad (or sick) guy”.
Throughout this series of angry, early morning tweets, he not only misspelled “tap”, adding and extra “p” at the end, but also managed to find the time to tweet about Arnold Schwarzenegger leaving the Apprentice in the midst of all this self-created chaos.
When asked if he had any evidence to support these very serious and damning accusations, the President revealed that his only source came from an article published in Breitbart News, of which he had simply read and believed immediately. Because of the severity of this accusation, the House intelligence committee has requested evidence to support this supposed wire tapping within the following week, further stating that the sitting President would be forced to retract his claim if no evidence could be provided.
