You're Graduating Soon, Here Are 11 Things I Want You To Know
Jonathon Daniels

To all of my girls who are graduating this summer: here are some things you need to know from me.

1. THANK YOU

I know I tell you guys this all the time, but I can’t tell you enough how much you all mean to me. I will never forget the times that you guys were there for me when no one else was. You were there for me every step of the way. It didn’t matter if we didn’t talk every day. I know you have my back, and I have yours. You will always mean the world to me. Thank you for being you.

2. I am so UNBELIEVABLY PROUD OF YOU

GIRL… You’re about to graduate college! It seems like just yesterday we were fixing each other’s hair and make-up for homecoming in high school. To my high school loves, YOU DID IT. You kicked ass to get to where you needed to be today – getting that degree. Live your dreams. I know you’re capable of amazing things. You inspire me to work harder each and every day.

3. You're going to be okay in the real world

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking to yourself, “Oh that’s easy for you to say, Jessica. You still have a year left of school.” I KNOW. But honestly, I wish I was in your shoes ready to start a whole new chapter in my life. Be the strong, intelligent, fierce women I know. You have a good head on your shoulders, and you’re going to do amazing, sweetie.

4. You're going to get your dream job

How do I know? Because you are incredibly smart women. Honestly, if it weren’t for you guys working so hard, I don’t think I would be as motivated to work as hard as I do. Keep shining because it’s going to start making everything around you shine too. Use your smarts, and get that dream job, girl.

5. I love you

Have I mentioned that I love you? Because I do. You’ve never judged me. You’ve never held anything against me. You continue to love me and be such amazing friends to me. No matter what. No matter where you go in life, whether it be Texas or New York, I will always be there for you just like you will be for me.

6. I'm always a call away

*Cue Charlie Puth Singing* Yes, I’m only one call away. Whether it’s to cry over not getting the job, bitching about not being able to afford rent, or just calling to tell me about the new boo thang in your life, I will always be willing to listen.

7. Please come back and visit me

I’m not kidding. Please just come back and visit me. I will be 21 in two months, and I'll finally be able to go out with you guys. Just come back. Thanks.

8. Can you get me a job after I graduate?

I’m talking to my PR (Public Relations) girls. Even if it’s in another state, I’ll move. Ya girl is definitely going to need a job after graduation. Why wouldn’t you want me around you all the time? I’m totally kidding. But I know you all are going to be amazing professionals no matter what field you go into.

9. You have made such an impact on me

Strong women are usually underappreciated, but I want you to know how much I genuinely appreciate each and every one of you. I look up to you guys as if I have 9 older sisters guiding me through love, internships, stress, tears, and life. (10. Can’t forget about Jacqueline.) Transferring to a new school can be very intimidating, but with you guys by my side, changing schools had never been so easy. T

hank you for shaping me into the better person I have become over the school year. I owe it to you. You’re some of the most amazing friends I could ever ask for.

10. You got this

If there's anyone that can handle life's twists and turns, it's you guys. Becoming successful takes time, effort and motivation - three things that I know all of you contain. When life gets rough after graduation and you feel like nothing is working out, just remember that at some point you will. Good things take time.

You got this, my love.

Be the fabulous bitch I know and keep telling yourself, "I got this."

11. Celebrate

Enjoy this next chapter in your life as you make all of these crazy changes. I wish you the best, my loves for forever and ever.

You did it. (I'm not crying. You're crying.)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
