There is a secret in this Christian walk that is widely discussed but rarely understood. It's one of the most powerful and effective tools for survival. There are many songs that describe it. And, there are many sermons that describe it. What is this secret you ask? It is grace. Perfect, strong and sure grace.
Grace, according to Christianity, is the free and unmerited favor of God. It is something that carries. It nurtures, and it is our strength. I say that grace is an effective tool for survival because it is how we survive. When we go through every single day, grace is always there. To show us who we were, who we are, and who we are becoming. There is a reason that grace is one of the amazing gifts that God gives us. It is because Grace empowers us to live our lives modelled after Christ. Grace is our lifeline to Christ.
Grace is there. For the broken, for the lonely, for the longing, and for the repentant. Grace is there. It is our survival not because we aren’t capable, but because we are only capable through grace. Amazing grace is always reaching us. When we need it and when we don’t think we need it. It is a gift to us because grace is where we want to be. Grace is the promised land that we desire to inhabit.
The reason why grace is perfect, strong and sure, is because it makes us perfect, strong and sure. Grace shows us that through Christ we are already free. It shows us that sin has no dominion. It empowers us to believe we are exactly who God says we are. Grace is our strong tower. Grace is our lighthouse. Grace is wherever we are. Grace follows us. Grace, oh sweet grace is beautiful, wonderful and powerful. Grace covers when sin begs to prevail.
Grace is only there because of Christ. When Christ rose from the grave, grace followed. Grace walked with Jesus while He was on this earth. Grace followed Christ, just as it follows us. Because Grace empowered Christ, it also empowers us. Grace was with the disciples. Grace was with the people in the Old Testament and the New Testament to show that when grace is there, we become extraordinary. Our works no longer are about perfection, they are about grace. Grace is God. God is Grace, and Christ is both. Grace is here for all of us. Grace is our survival because it is our water and our air. It is how we as Christians can experience Christ. So today, except grace for yourself and for others. Because once you do, amazing grace will empower you, to live the life that love set out for you to live.
