Let me start this article off by saying that I'm in no way, shape, or form bashing the original author's beliefs. I am not criticizing their religion or how they're going about their personal life.
I read an article entitled, "God Is More Important Than My GPA" by a creator in the University of Maine's community named Renée Browning. For a summary, Browning talks about how she believes that her relationship with God is more important than her school and ultimately her GPA and how her (or anyone's for that matter) GPA won't get her into heaven. She makes a good point, but...
You're spending thousands of dollars to go to school to receive a college degree, right? And ultimately, with that degree, you'll want to have a good job AND career, right?
Let me tell you the obvious by saying that without a good GPA, you won't have that college degree you're spending thousands of dollars on trying to earn, and without a degree, you more than likely won't have a great job. Now, don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people choose not to go to college and they have a great career, but that isn't always the case, especially with today's society.
Now, Browning ends her article by explaining that in order to have a healthy relationship with both God and school, you'll have to prioritize your time and she's right, so I give her credit there. When it comes to college, you ultimately juggle a lot of things whether that be your personal family/friend relationships, working, studying, or even your religion, you're going to have to make sacrifices. Maybe you'll have to cancel that date with your significant other because you have to study for your final exam or maybe you can't make it to church because you have to write a paper, but your GPA is definitely a lot more important than what you may think.
Your GPA may not get you into heaven, but your GPA DOES get you a good degree and into grad school (if that's your route post-graduation) and hopefully provides you with a great career.
